Dear Reader, When you ask an author how their book is doing, they'll usually give you a vague answer along the lines of "It's doing fairly well" or "It's kind of struggling a bit right now." I am always curious about these matters as well, so I'll provide you with full transparency on my book sales, allowing you to assess progress for yourself. How many books have I sold? "The Rest of the Man's Show" was released on 4/8/25, and these are the stats so far: Books Sold = 315 Physical books given away = 75 (recovery ministry & promo) Digital books given away = 1,006 Total books in people's hands = 1,396 Current status: The book has stalled in sales, and I fell well short of my goal of 100 reviews (which significantly helps with sales), currently sitting at 21 reviews. It's said that writing a book is hard, but selling a book is even harder. 😃 Despite the long odds, I have not given up and will continue to promote the book on podcasts and live events wherever I am invited to share. Will I write another book? Ironically, when you release a new book, it has the effect of selling your previous ones(s). More importantly, I have a vision for another book I'd be delighted to write, which would be completely different than my current book and would likely appeal to a wider audience. However, I am still wrestling with whether it makes sense. It would have to sell 750 copies of my first book to break even (not accounting for the hundreds of hours of labor invested), so I have to wrestle with the serious question, "Can I afford the expensive hobby of writing books?" If I reach the 750 sales mark on my current book, I'll likely write another. Absent that, if I felt God calling me to write another, I'd do it. We'll see! How do I feel about all this? I'll be honest: there is some disappointment; you always want whatever you create to be discovered and appreciated by as many as possible. However, I am at the same time incredibly grateful that my book is in the hands of more than 1,000 people and that so many have taken the time to read it. I am also delighted to have heard from many people who appreciated the book and were impacted by it in some way. I feel great about having released "The Rest of the Man's Show," and no matter where things land, I have zero regrets about this project. How can you help?
If you have done any (or all) of these things, know that I am truly grateful for you and your support! Godspeed, Bill PS: This weekend is an exciting one for me. My entire family will be flying up to Connecticut for the first time in almost 2 years, and I will be speaking at 180 Life Church in West Hartford, the church we were privileged to start 20 years ago. If you're in the area, come out and say hello! |

Dear Reader, First of all, thank you so much for coming along with me on the journey to the release of my first book, The Rest of the Man's Show, this year! I love hearing stories of how it is reaching people. I recently ran into a guy I know from the cowork space I work out of downtown. He told me he's not religious, but he loved the book so much that he bought copies for his family as gifts this month. He told me he's curious to see their reaction when they receive this gift from him, since...
Dear Reader, I know we are knee deep in the Christmas season, so I will keep this very brief. We continue to have significant momentum as we build and prepare to launch early next year. Here are three quick, important updates: Launch date - Our launch date has been moved one week from 2/22/26 to 3/1/26 to resolve scheduling issues. Launch budget - We are 1/3 of the way towards our $150,000 launch budget goal. We need to order a bulk of our gear very soon to ensure it is on hand and ready for...
Dear Reader, On Monday, I had a conversation with Chris, a core member of our launch team (how we connected is a God story in and of itself). Chris asked, “Was it like this last time?” He wondered if things went like this when we planted a church many years prior in Connecticut. The reason he asked is that we were both marveling at how many things God has been doing and providing to bring One Life Church from vision into reality. After all, Bayside Church had just donated a trailer to us to...
